Mobile phones are important today in most people in our modern lives, whether you are a teenager or an old guy, a business man or just plain Jane, everyone has a mobile phone.
Mobile phone has become very popular because it is handy and convenient, its like the "swiss knife" when it comes to communication and portable entertainment.
But did you know mobile phones aren't that cool before, they don't look and function that way they do now. Many years ago mobile phones are big, bulky, and the only thing you can do about it, is call, text or smash it when your girlfriend dumps you.
Indeed, the evolution of mobile phones has become very advanced and fast. From huge brick phones to very slim smartphones, lets take a look back at the evolution of mobile phones since 1995. I will feature some of the most famous phone during that era.
1995
The year was 1995 when I first saw a mobile phone in my life. They looked liked the walkie talkie we played with long antenna and looked like the cordless phone we see today. It looks weird, but it is very famous that time.
1998
Lets jump to the year 1998, the era where backstreet boys rule the billboard hit charts and Playstation video game console was my new bestfriend. Anyway, that year was the start where most people are becoming aware of mobile phones (in my country) and Nokia 5110 was introduced. It was the next big thing during that time, I even have that old phone up to now. One of the best feature of the Nokia 5110 is the birth of mobile phone games, especially "snake".
1999
In 1999, the mobile phone look has become more compact and smaller. The Nokia 3210 was the most bought brand that time. This phone was so popular because a lot of people can customize its back color and even upgrade its system like changing its icon and ringtones.
Year 2000 the rumor about the Y2K bug was a hoax and I am in my second year in high school. That year, only a few people owns a mobile phone but when they do, the Nokia 3310 was the "iPhone" of year 2000. Not only it looked smaller, it has more games, a polyphonic ringtone and it vibrates!
We will skip to the year 2002, and mobile phone technology is evolving very fast and the start of camera mobile phones. The Nokia 7650 was the trend when it comes to mobile phone, and even for the next 3 years it was still very popular. This phone was the first to feature a 0.3mp camera and a great colour display.
2003
Clam shell opened phone was very popular on the year 2003 and the Samsung S300 was the one of them. Its screen and keypad are separated giving a more professional and stylish look. Because of the James Bond film and the Matrix trilogy, Sony Ericsson has also become famous and is also features a close open mobile phone.

Slim is in in the year 2004, it is also the year that introduces Motorola V3, one of the slimmest mobile phone that time. This phone was very stylish and gives a hint to what mobile phones will look for the next coming years.
2005
In the Year 2005, Sony Ericsson introduces the walkman phone and it was really a remarkable phone. Most of its features are a camera, a beautiful colour display and the hit of them all, the mp3 player. It was also the start of using memory stick for increase memory capacity.

Lets move to the year 2007 where the first advanced touch screen smartphone was introduced, I am talking about the first ever Apple iPhone. It is the first mobile phone to run on an operating system called IOS. This phone gives a source of pride to whoever owns it.
2008
A lot of people has become dependent in laptop to do a lot of things and mobile phones was important for people on the go, and so the "qwerty" keypad for mobile phone has been introduced. Keys are placed the same as a computer. An example is the HTC G-1 which features a qwerty keypad a huge screen and runs on Android OS.
2009
The year 2009 and a lot mobile phone company has adopted the qwerty keypad. But one of the best phone during that time is the HTC Hero, it has a 3.2 in capacity touch-screen and a 5 autofocus megapixel camera, it is also good for social networking skills and has a great implementation of the Android operating system with the "sense" user interface.
2010
2010 is the year of the Android. Googles' mobile devices are everywhere, from Android phones to android tablets. It is also the year where windows phone 7 was introduced but because of tough competition from rivals like Samsung, iPhone and Blackberry, its market share has dropped.
2011
Touchscreen mobile phones are trending in the year 2011 and in the Philippines, Samsung has overtaken Nokia as the number 1 mobile phone in the country. And the mobile phone that dominated that year was the Samsung SII which has everything in a mobile phone that could be useful to you. It has an 8MP camera and AMOLED Display, runs on the Android OS, is less than 1 cm thick, supports web browsing, calls and has an in-built GPS. This was the phone to beat in 2011.
2012
Because of the domination of the IOS and Android phone, Nokia has been out of the picture when it comes to smartphones, that is why in the year 2012 they make a comeback by introducing its new smartphone, the Nokia Lumina 800 which runs on windows 7 operating system mobile version.
This year was also remarkable because you can access almost everything right in the palm of your hands, from house security to the Internet access, mobile phones has become very handy in our everyday lives.
2013
18 years has passed and the ordinary phone we use at home only has come a long way. From brick to slick, mobile phone evolution is really fast, in fact its hard to be updated because mobile phone changes every time. This year will be another era of upcoming mobile phones, predictions are the coming of iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Google Nexus 5.
I am so excited about the new features of upcoming mobile in the up coming years.
